Perivan welcomes the LSE's new AIM Rules: The Next Chapter in Shaping the Future of AIM

August 2026

The London Stock Exchange’s has published latest AIM reforms which are the most significant modernisation of the market for many years. The objective is clear: make AIM more attractive, reduce unnecessary regulation, lower costs and encourage more companies to choose London as their growth market. The proposals form part of the Exchange’s wider “Shaping the Future of AIM” programme.

Key changes

Simplified admissions – New admission routes are proposed for certain companies already listed on recognised markets, reducing duplication and making it easier to join AIM.

Reduced regulatory burden – A number of AIM Rules are being simplified or removed where they are considered unnecessary, helping companies reduce compliance costs.

More flexibility for companies – AIM companies will have greater discretion over certain disclosures, including optional reporting on engagement with proxy advisers.

Modernised Nomad regime – The proposed changes better align the Nomad Rules with the revised AIM Rules, creating a more proportionate and practical framework.

A stronger platform for growth – Overall, the reforms are designed to make AIM more competitive internationally while maintaining appropriate investor protections.

Perivan’s view

At Perivan, we welcome these reforms.

For many years, we have supported more AIM admissions than any other financial printer and work with a significant proportion of the market’s listed companies with their shareholder communications and annual reports. We therefore see first-hand the challenges companies face when accessing public markets.

The proposed changes strike the right balance between maintaining investor confidence and reducing unnecessary complexity. By simplifying the admission process, lowering compliance costs and making AIM a more attractive destination for ambitious growth companies, the London Stock Exchange is taking positive steps to strengthen the UK’s capital markets.

A healthier AIM market ultimately benefits the entire advisory community from the listed companies and Nomads to lawyers, brokers and investors and of course investor and shareholder communications providers like us.

We believe these reforms will help encourage more companies to consider AIM, increase market activity and support a stronger pipeline of new admissions. As the market leader in AIM admission document production, Perivan looks forward to helping advisers and issuers navigate this next chapter in the evolution of the UK’s leading growth market.
